What Is a Hybrid Event? Shawn Hessinger: Let’s discuss hybrid events since they don’t appear to be something you are particularly enthusiastic about. Perhaps you could explain some of their appeal, as well as whether or not it might be feasible given your resources available to pull one off successfully.
Monique Johnson: If we’re speaking specifically of virtual conferences and events, hybrid is trying to bridge the gap between in-person and virtual experiences. Hybrid existed before the pandemic but was more passive – it consisted of live streaming or gathering virtual crowds without engaging participants; there was no real way of engaging an audience; viewing participants who weren’t involved could only type their comments into chat rooms with no moderator present – often leaving participants who watched on virtual side not engaged enough with what was going on at all.
